How to Measure Your Floor
Download a graph paper and draw the floor plan of your kitchen. The area of each square on the graph paper represents one square foot.
When estimating your kitchen floor space, remember that there are flooring under you kitchen appliances.
Simplify your estimation by ignoring the area of the cabinets. Add up the areas of all the large rectangular pieces to obtain the total area.
Alternatively, the area of your kitchen can be obtained simply by counting the total number of squares.
